Les chars montréalaises

Something I love about Montreal and a big reason why I moved here is the bicycle infrastructure.

It is a common excuse that is used by most cities in Canada and the northern states to disregard biking infrastructure due to the weather. Montreal has taken that excuse head-on.

In North America, bikes live in the shadows of cars. Too small and not powerful enough. Yet here they are, buried in the snow just like all the other cars in the streets and arguably easier to clean off and start riding.

These photos illustrate the determinations of not only Montrealers but all Canadians. Through the harsh Canadian winters, these bikes and the people of Montreal trek on. No matter how much snow there is, you will find Montrealers and their bikes on the streets getting groceries, partying at festivals or on their way to a friend’s apartment.
